Guest Testimonials for The White Cottages Bed and Breakfast in Skerries

If you want somewhere idyllic overlooking the sea, this is it! The excellent welcome, food, and cleanliness of this family establishment is the best on earth. And watching the seals swimming by in the bay really does make your day! Jackie and Joe have had us stay a few days almost every year for the past nine years and we shall continue to keep coming for an excellent few days to chill out.

Room Tip: All are great, comfortable & beautifully clean

Right from our arrival we were made to feel at home in a b&b with fantastic views and very comfortable accomodation with good quality evening venues close at hand (10-15min stroll). Looked forward to the hearty well presented breakfast every morning. well done Joe and Jackie

We arrived at the white cottages with high expectations after reading the reviews posted here and we were not dissapointed. The location, perched over the rocky seafront, was georgous. The cottages themselves were immaculate and full of homely little bits and pieces and Joe and Jackie were brilliant hosts making our two young children feel immediatley at home.

The breakfast was amazing, all locally sourced and cooked at the last minute, I've never seen 'dippy eggs' offered anywhere else.

What really struck me was how quiet it was, there was another family staying at the same time but all you could hear was the the sea. I really can't reccomend the White cottages enough, we'll definately be back.

This was our first stop in Ireland. I am SO glad we picked here :) Joe and Jackie were fantastic and fantastic cooks! This place turned out to be the best breakfast out of all 5 BnBs we hit in Ireland. (Get the greek yogurt with almonds n honey!). The view is perfect, the local pub serves delicious seafood chowder (fresh!). We LOVED it here as did our two year old son!

We were staying in White Cottages, with our two toddlers, as we had to travel to Skerries under quite difficult circumstances. Staying in the cottage made it so much easier though. There was a lovely garden overlooking the sea for the kids to play in, some lovely duck friends, and Joe and Jackie were so kind to us.

The cottage was lovely and clean, and had everything we needed. They even unpacked our online shop for us, one we had ordered for our arrival, but it arrived a bit earlier. We had lovely cooked breakfasts there in the morning as well.

Thank you so much, you were so kind to us, and it was such a lovely place to stay, and a really beautiful location. We were so touched by your kindness and generosity. And we hope to see you again sometime.

I definitely recommend this place to stay in you are thinking of holidaying in Skerries, with our without young children. Its beautiful.

We had a brilliant stay at the White Cottages, the owners Joe and Jackie keep a very friendly and tidy place. All the rooms have names and we got the “Crow’s Nest”, which is a three-bed room on the first floor. Our son is nearly four and he wakes up early, so it was good for the other guests that we were tucked away a bit from the rest of the house. The room had a lovely skylight and great view of the Skerries bay.

Everything went smoothly with the stay, the breakfasts were always coordinated the day before and every morning was really lovely with a tasty selection of quality food available (we had withdrawal symptoms coming home). Joe would always throw in a bit of nice music on the stereo while chatting to us about the Skerries area and history, so we definitely felt like we were being looked after. Our son loved having his breakfast in the little window alcove towards the water where he would lounge like a little cat with his piece of toast – he definitely made himself at home!

The common room area of the Cottages works very well for breakfast times and for having a glass of wine near the fire in the evening. There is also a selection of books on Skerries, children’s stories, as well as some beach buckets and shovels for kids available, which came in handy for us.

As the “pièce de résistance” on our last day, we got to try Jackie’s “Lobster Lunch”, a big platter of locally caught lobster with homemade sauces, potatoes and garnish – really quite a treat, also for the eyes!

We can only give our highest recommendation for the White Cottages, thanks Joe and Jackie for making sure that we all had a great time in Skerries!

The White Cottages is one of our favorite places to stay ever! Idyllic, charming, and ideally situated right on the water in Skerries, a mere half an hour from Dublin, with plenty of local color and great food options. The bedrooms are a little small, but well appointed, and the lovely sitting area, dining space and fully stocked kitchen make the whole place feel like home. The patio is such a wonderful place to sit at any time of the day, and those views!!! Joe and Jackie could not have been more helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was fabulous - we cannot wait to go back!

We travelled to Skeries by motorcycle, and after a long journey over 2 days, when we turned the corner on the Balbriggan Road and caught sight of the most attractive bright white cottages nestled right beside the water, is brought a wry smile of relief. It just got better, when Jackie came out, a welcoming smile and the offer of a cuppa and some chocolate biscuits just topped off our delight.

The rooms were great, clean, bright and comfy, and both Joe and Jackie looked after us as if we were long lost friends, and friends they became throughout our stay. The breakfast was first class, and the whole experience just amazing, we can't thank them enough, and were sad to leave, but we will be back......

This was our favorite B&B on our two week trip around Ireland. We stayed our last night here instead of in Dublin as this is a short (and easy) drive to the airport.

The house is constructed perfectly for a B&B with a separate half for guest rooms and a common guest area. We stayed in a beautiful room overlooking the bay with glass french doors opening to the huge shared balcony. The owners were ready with town maps and recommendations. It is about a mile level walk to town, either along the beach or road. We came back from dinner to a fire in the thoughtful!

There was only one other couple staying that night, and we spent the night playing cards with them in the guest common area (so tastefully decorated! did I mention that yet?). Breakfast was pleasant, definitely the freshest and healthiest on our trip. After we settled our bill, the owners gave us a handwritten thank you note with a couple of chocolates from a local vendor. If I can make it back to Ireland I will definitely stay here.

My self and my partner stayed in The White Cottages from Thrusday until Sunday. We flew in from England in the afternoon and had a very quick and easy journey from the airport. We were greeted on our arrival by Jackie O'Connor, who made us feel very welcome. We were shown to our room, which had wonderful views directly out on to the sea. The room was beautifully decoriated with crisp white linen.

The breakfast and lounge area was very tasteful and had a lovely beach feel to it. The weather wasn't great during our stay but the heating from the burner in the lounge made you feel very cosy and comfortable looking out to the sea. Breakfast was excellent with a varied choice and a very relaxed atmosphere. Skerries is a beautiful town with wonderful places to see and enjoyable walks either on the sea front or around Ardgillian Castle. Jackie and her family were very welcoming through out our stay without being intrusive.

They gave us some lovely suggestions on where to eat locally and places to see. The seafood is to die for in Stoop Your Heads on the Harbour. We can't wait to go back this year in the summer and hopefully we will have some sunshine to perfect our holiday. I would recommend anybody to stay at the White Cottages for the perfect getaway.

My husband and I spent one night at The White Cottages and I cannot fault it one bit. I had been ill before we went away and was longing for a relaxing break and we got just that. We stayed in the new room 'The Harbour Master' I think it was called. It was seperate from the main house with its own access. The room was fantastic with a walk in wardrobe and shower room. The views from this room are amazing - wonderful to wake to in the morning. The room was super clean.

The White Cottages are a 10 minute walk from Skerries although it is a lovely walk and you can choose to walk the whole way along the beach. We had opted for breakfast in our room although we changed our mind that morning and this was no problem at all. We had a gorgeous fresh fruit platter and pot of tea brought to our room then we moved into the guest area for the most delicious breakfast. I opted for the smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs - yum yum! Everything was spot on and exactly to our requirements. This guest area is superb with a lovely fire and self catering facilities for guests. Jackie and Joe are fantastic and should be really proud of this place, they are brilliant hosts and we cannot wait to return. Thank you so much!! :)

Room Tip: The Harbour Master room is worth the little extra for the privacy and outstanding views!

Senior Review, United Kingdom

Just spent 2 days 1 night in the lovely White Cottages. Great situation on the edge of the sea with an ever changing view of same out of the windows from the dining / relaxing area and some of the bedrooms. It was mid- Winter December but still special and one of the highlights was the Lobster Lunch we ordered for just after check-in, The rooms I saw were all decorated with a nautical theme with touches from other cultures.

Good base for exploring the area and the O'Connors (the hosts) were good on advice and personal touches but not on top of their guests.
